Marin Double Century Ride
San Rafael, CA
Official Website : http://marincyclists.memberlodge.com/Default.aspx?pageId=131074
Date : August 7, 2010
Race Type : Road Cycling
Race Distance : 200 mi
Race Description: All routes (with the exception of the Mt. Tam Century) have an option to bail out so riders can shorten their ride back to the finish. We say this so you know there is a parachute. However, we encourage you to ride the furthest distance you feel you can in order to give you a sense of achievement.
All of the Marin Cyclist Century rides are among California's most beautiful and unique bicycle tours. All 2009 courses begin and end at Vallecito School in San Rafael. The courses travel the rural roads of West Marin and Southern Sonoma Counties. The terrain varies from gentle rolling hills along the coast to a few very challenging climbs.
1 Reviews for Marin Double Century Ride
This is the 3rd double century I rode this year. Overall this was the most well run of the 3. The route, aid stations, signs, support, food, everything was awesome.
The scenery is breathtaking and route takes you through some of the best roads that West Marin and Petaluma have to offer. Overall the road quality is excellent.
In terms of difficulty this is an average double century. Most of the hard climbing is early in the morning. I found the constant rollers to be more tiring than the 2 major climbs. My brother and I equated this ride to death by a thousand cuts. You're either going up or down, only the ups seem a lot longer than the downs.
If you're looking for a double century definitely sign up for this one. No doubt I'll do this one again. They also offer a 100K, 100mi, and 200K version.
