Fun local Houston race that coincides with the Rodeo parade coming into town.

   

This is a very flat, fast race if you're looking for that - so it's pretty easy for a half-marathon. It's very well organized also. I've done this race a few times and really enjoyed it each time. There's a large cheering crowd through out the course and bands or DJs about each mile or so. The scenery and route is as good as you could get, considering the race starts and ends in Downtown Houston.

   

The post party, free Rockets tickets, and award ceremony make the race. The race is great fun for the whole family too. The 5K itself is just a short trip around downtown, but at least it ends up on the basketball court in the Toyota Center!

   

Great organization and post party. You'll get a nice overview of Houston running from Downtown's Discovery Green over to Hermann Park and then back again via the train. Would definitely do it again!
